The Olympia Tea Room, now a tea room in name only, was once owned by three brothers commonly known as ‘the Greeks’. Marcia and Jack Felber bought the Olympia Tea Room in 1980. As newcomers in Westerly, RI they had to work incredibly hard to make the Olympia what it is today. Upon the purchase of the property they painted the Olympia pink, laid the black and white checkerboard floor and began to change the menu from a luncheonette to a full service restaurant. One of their daughters, Georgia and her husband Eric, now try to follow in Marcia and Jack’s footsteps and are heavily involved in the day-to-day operation of the Olympia. The Olympia is now 110 years old and the Felber’s have owned and operated it for over 45 years. The Olympia has survived the Hurricane of ’38, several village wide fires, Hurricane Carol and Superstorm Sandy. There are countless stories and histories attributed to the Olympia, some of them true and some fiction, but don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story about the Olympia.
The Olympia Tea Room celebrated our 100th season in 2016. As a 110 year old institution in the town of Westerly we have received some recognition and praise from our local news providers and we want to share that with you! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
